What is space weather and why does it matter?
Space weather is driven by solar flares, coronal mass ejections (CMEs), and the solar wind. When these energetic particles reach Earth, they interact with our magnetic field, sometimes causing geomagnetic storms. For the UK, the most visible effect is the aurora borealis, which can occasionally be seen as far south as northern England and Scotland during strong events.
